The River Ganges or the Ganga is the most sacred river in the Hindu religion and its source at Gaumukh on the Gangotri glacier is one of the holiest destinations for Hindu pilgrims. Our trek takes us to Gaumukh (translates to cows mouth), the mythological source of the River Ganges, which is at the snout of the Gangotri glacier.

Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Haridwar/ Rishikesh – Uttarkashi

Morning meet at Railway station or Bus station at Haridwar / Rishikesh and drive for Uttarkashi. On arrival enter in Shikhar Nature Resort (SNR), located at the Bank of River Bhagirathi (Ganges). After welcome tea/coffee we will allot the tents. Dinner & Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Uttarkashi – Gangotri

Morning after breakfast drive (95 Km / 2-3 Hrs) to Gangotri (3048 m) passing through Harsil a scenic settlement of the Budhist people and a 354 feet high span bridge at Bhairav ghati. Gangotri is the place where the daughter Ganga from Heaven landed on Earth. There is a Temple of Goddess Gangotri on the right bank of the river. Upon arrival check in the Hotel for Lunch, Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 03: Gangotri – Bhojbasa

Morning after an early breakfast and with packed lunch start trekking (14 Km / 4-5 Hrs) to Bhojbasa (3658 m) following the river Bhagirathi. From Bhojbasa you can have majestic view of Bhagirathi group of peaks. Dinner and stay at the Camp / Tourist Bungalow.

Day 04: Bhojbasa - Gaumukh – Bhojbasa

Morning after breakfast trek (8 Km / 3-4 Hrs) to reach Gaumukh, the source of river Ganges. One can have a wide view of the peaks in this region. Return trek to Bhojbasa (9 Km / 4-5 Hrs). Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 05: Bhojbasa – Gangotri – Uttarkashi

Morning after breakfast with packed lunch trek (14 Km / 3-4 Hrs) down to Gangotri. On arrival drive (95 Km / 2-3 Hrs) to Uttarkashi. Upon arrival check in the Hotel / Camp for dinner & the overnight stay.

Day 06: Uttarkashi – Rishikesh/ Haridwar

Morning after breakfast, start drive for railway station or bus station at Rishikesh / Haridwar.
